Adi Kailash
& Om Parvat
Yatra
Seven days. Door to door from Dehradun. Shiva's Himalayan throne — inside India, held for those who are truly ready.
The original Kailash.
Inside India.
Most people do not know that Adi Kailash — the first Kailash, the earthly abode of Lord Shiva — sits entirely within India, in the remote Byans Valley of Pithoragarh district. No Tibet. No foreign visa. No Kailash Mansarovar permit.
The journey begins in Dehradun and moves through Bhimtal, the living temple forests of Jageshwar, the Golu Devta shrine of Chitai, and the darshan at Neem Karoli Baba's ashram — before crossing into the Inner Line and climbing toward Gunji at 3,500 metres. From there, two of the most sacred sites in the Himalayas open before you: Jolingkong, base of Adi Kailash, and Nabhidhang, where Om Parvat reveals the naturally-formed ॐ on its snow face.
Somavé handles every detail. You carry only yourself.
The full journey,
every step of it.
Your Somavé vehicle arrives at your Dehradun door in the early morning. The drive to Bhimtal winds through the Kumaon foothills — the landscape shifts from city to forest to the first quiet lake of the journey. Tonight is about settling in, slowing down, and beginning to leave the world you came from.
- Door-to-door Dehradun pickup included
- Arrival at Bhimtal Lake — overnight stay
- Dinner and rest — the yatra begins quietly
This day is Somavé's signature — a curated spiritual route that no standard operator offers. You begin at Neem Karoli Baba's ashram at Kainchi Dham, continue to the wish-fulfilling Golu Devta temple at Chitai, pass through the 124 ancient Shiva temples of Jageshwar forest, and arrive in Pithoragarh as dusk settles over the valley.
- Kainchi Dham — Neem Karoli Baba Ashram darshan
- Chitai Golu Devta temple — the bell-covered wish shrine
- Jageshwar — 124 Shiva temples in ancient deodar forest
- Overnight in Pithoragarh town
Today you cross into the Inner Line Permit zone — the restricted Himalayan border territory where the road follows the Kali River gorge toward Tibet and Nepal. The landscape becomes raw and immense. Gunji, at 3,500 metres, is the last significant village before the high passes. An early night here is essential — your body has begun its acclimatisation.
- Inner Line Permit processed by Somavé — no effort from you
- Drive along the Kali River gorge through remote border villages
- Arrive Gunji — acclimatisation evening, light dinner, early rest
This is what you came for. An early start from Gunji, driving northwest through the Kuti Valley to Jolingkong — the base camp of Adi Kailash at 4,572 metres. The mountain reveals itself completely here. A short walk brings you to Parvati Sarovar, the sacred lake that reflects Adi Kailash in still water. Aarti is performed. Silence is the only appropriate response.
- Drive to Jolingkong base camp — 4,572m
- Adi Kailash darshan — the full presence of the mountain
- Trek to Parvati Sarovar (Parvati Kund) — 2 km each way
- Aarti arranged by Somavé at the sacred lake
- Return to Gunji for dinner and overnight rest
The second sacred day. You drive northeast on the Lipulekh highway to Nabhidhang, where Om Parvat stands across the valley — the naturally-formed ॐ symbol etched in snow on its face, visible with the naked eye. This is not something that can be adequately described. The route continues through the ancient villages of Rong Kong and Kuti before returning to Gunji.
- Om Parvat darshan at Nabhidhang viewpoint — 4,300m
- The natural ॐ symbol in snow — visible to the naked eye
- Kalapani temple visit en route
- Villages of Rong Kong and Kuti — ancient border settlements
- Return to Gunji — final night at altitude
The descent from Gunji to Pithoragarh is the body returning to the world — but the mind stays behind for a while longer. The Kali River gorge, the border villages, the forest — all of it looks different now that you have seen what is above it. An unhurried drive, a warm dinner, a proper night's sleep in Pithoragarh.
- Leisurely morning at Gunji before departure
- Drive back along the Kali River gorge
- Overnight in Pithoragarh — warm stays, warm food
The final drive home. Long, comfortable, and quiet — exactly as it should be after a journey like this. Your Somavé vehicle drops you at your Dehradun door. The yatra is complete.
- Breakfast in Pithoragarh before departure
- Comfortable drive back to Dehradun

Five things this journey
gives you that no other does.
Adi Kailash is entirely within Indian territory. No foreign permits, no Tibet crossing, no uncertainty — just the mountain, fully accessible, fully sacred.
Om Parvat bears the Sanskrit symbol etched in snow on its face — not a photograph, not a painting. You stand at Nabhidhang and see it yourself.
Neem Karoli Baba's ashram, Chitai Golu Devta, and Jageshwar's ancient temple forest — a day of darshan that most operators simply drive through.
The Somavé ceiling is six people per batch. The mountain is not a stadium. Your experience is never diluted by a crowd around you.
Permits, transport, stays, meals, puja, guide — every single thing is handled before you arrive. You think about nothing except being present.
Somavé is not a Delhi operator running this as a package. We are from these mountains. This is local knowledge, lived and walked.
The mountain
is waiting for you.
